A conversation with the Curator of the Museum of English Rural Life, Dr Ollie Douglas (University of Reading), and Professor Julie-Marie Strange (History, Durham University) on the oddities and interests of working with objects and stories from historical cattle-keeping. What sorts ofobjects and stories remain from past practices of cattle-keeping? Howdo we preserve cattle heritage -and why? How do we understand thways people lived with cattle? And why are there so many historicalpictures of chunky cows?
