Durham University Classical Ensemble

June 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£6.48 – £8.64

Join Durham University Classical Ensemble for an evening of reflection and reformation in Redhills Durham Miner’s Hall. Opening the concert will be Mozart’s foreboding Adagio and Fugue in C minor, followed by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata 170, composed for the Sixth Sunday after Trinity. It features the words taken from Epistle to the Romans and the Gospel of Matthew that explore themes of sin and redemption, culminating in a radiant turning toward heaven. Emilie Mayer’s dramatic overture drives forward with restless energy and to conclude our journey, Felix Mendelssohn’s Reformation Symphony, composed to mark the 300th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession, unites faith and renewal through Lutheran traditions and triumphant affirmation.
