Understanding Class Politics in 2026

June 22 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Class politics once felt clear-cut. Today, it looks very different. Voting patterns are shifting, long-standing loyalties are weakening, and new political identities are emerging across working-class communities. What’s driving this change, and what does it mean for the future?

Faiza Shaheen, Executive Director of Tax Justice UK, and Professor Mike Savage of the London School of Economics, author of Social Class in the 21st Century, will share insights and open up a vital conversation about power, representation, and the future of working-class politics. Together, they will explore what has changed, why it matters, and what new approaches might be needed to rebuild collective power.

The evening will begin with a talk in Redhills’ Pitman’s Parliament from 6pm, followed by drinks in the Banner Room from 7pm.

This event is open to anyone interested in the future of working-class communities, whether you’re an organiser, campaigner, trade unionist, community leader, or simply curious about the forces reshaping politics today. All are very welcome.
