Hollowed Ground – The People of the Durham Coalfield

June 7 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
£5.40

What is Identity? Where does it come from? In the 19th Century, County Durham in North East England saw its population increase dramatically, as mine workers and their families moved into the area in search of work. Built on coal, these pit towns and villages forged their own unique identity. Interwoven in the fabric of this, is community, and an unwavering resilience in the face of adversity.

The story of the people of the Durham Coalfield is one of unyielding determination and perseverance to build a better future.
