DESCRIPTION:Colpitts begins a new season with a double bill – a takeover from Donald Jenkins & Born Lippy and a set by Tees Valley based Nigerian poet Patience Ezinwoke. \n  \nDonald Jenkins & Born Lippy\nDonald Jenkins is a spoken word poet and rapper who loves to rant and rhyme. He has performed throughout the UK including Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Albert Hall. His work has featured in – ‘New Word Order’\, ‘The Writer’s Cafe’ ‘Riggwelter’ ‘ Best New British Poets 2020/21 Anthology’ and Morecambe Poetry Festival Anthology 2023. Since 2025 he has toured with his debut show and book\, Still Raving in Your 40s?. He also runs Born Lippy and co-runs SlamFresh poetry in education. \nBorn Lippy is the North East platform for all things wordy – Spoken Word\, Hip Hop and Comedy. For nearly 9 years they have been showcasing the finest diverse national\, international and local wordsmiths at multiple notable venues in Newcastle. They have curated stages on behalf of Lindisfarne\, Words Weekender\, Summer Streets\, Little Lindi\, START & Newcastle Poetry Festivals and run the annual Geet Muckle Slam at Northern Stage in Newcastle. \n\nPatience Ezinwoke\nPatience Ezinwoke (PhD) is a British Nigerian poet\, writer\, and educator celebrated for her contributions to English language education and literature in Nigeria and beyond. She co-founded the English Language Teachers Association of Nigeria and has been recognised by the British High Commissioner for her extensive work with the British Council. Her acclaimed works include the award-winning teen novel The Lost Beach\, the poetry collection Drill Baby Drill\, and the environmentally themed novel The Black River. \nEzinwoke’s literary and perfomance work continues to inspire audiences\, academic and literary communities. She has made poetic contributions to the anthologies Our Place\, Our History: An anthology of Black and Asian British Poetry from the North of England and Building Bridges: An International Anthology of Ekphrasis and Reimagining Middlesbrough: a compendium and has performed at the T-Junction International Festival. DESCRIPTION:Part of Durham Jazz Festival\n(with Polly Gibbons)\nThe Ronnie Scott’s All Stars are the ‘house’ band at Ronnie Scott’s and have been playing at the club since 2007. The quintet features a vocalist and a saxophonist alongside a trio comprising of Piano\, Bass and Drums. They play regularly at the club and tour the UK with their Theatre shows. They also appear on the international stage in festivals and ‘Pop Up’ clubs sometimes on their own or as a ‘backing’ band for stars such as Rick Astley\, Curtis Stigers\, Gabrielle\, Lisa Stansfield\, Vanessa Haynes\, Clare Martin and Ian Shaw. \nThe Ronnie Scott’s Story \nThis show is a history of the club from its origins through to the present day and is a mix of live jazz\, narration\, rare archive photos and video footage.​ \nThe show features classic music from the jazz greats who have performed at the club over its incredible 60+ year history such as Ella Fitzgerald\, Sarah Vaughan\, Nina Simone\, Buddy Rich. There is also instrumental music including a composition by Ronnie himself. Alongside the music there are tales of old Soho with anecdotes about miscreant musicians\, film stars\, celebrity visitors. gangs and police raids. DESCRIPTION:Double Bill: King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys and Olivia Cuttill is presented by Durham Jazz Festival in association with Durham Brass Festival\nOlivia Cuttill is an award-winning London-based Jazz trumpet player\, composer and lyricist and will be playing Durham Jazz Festival with her all-star quintet. \nHeavily influenced by the sounds of New Orleans\, influenced by Louis Armstrong and Dr John and the songwriting of Nina Simone and Randy Newman\, her sound is rich with soul. \nOlivia’s music is full of storytelling\, from a phone call with the insurance man to sentimental family tales. Being a third-generation musician\, jazz and blues are deeply rooted in Olivia’s heritage. \nWith two albums released (The Whole Damn Plan 2024 and …And Writing And Singing And Tunes To Be Swingin’ 2025)\, the band has toured the UK and Europe\, playing prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scott’s\, South Bank Centre and Duc Des Lombards. \nAwarded with the APPJAG Martin Hummel Award 2025\, Presto Music’s Best Newcomer 2025\, Peter Whitingham Award 2024\, Olivia’s is recognised as “one of the best new trumpeters to emerge on the British jazz scene over the past decade” by Jazzwise. \nOlivia will be sharing the stage with Issey Chivers (vocals)\, Tom Harris (piano)\, Josh Vadiveloo (Bass) and Miles Pillinger (drums). \nOlivia also plays in Jazz FM Innovator of the Year 2025 Nominee ‘Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band’ and Orchestra Mambo International. \nKing Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys – With more than 7\,000 performances in 21 countries under their belt over almost forty years on the road\, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest jump\, jive and swing band – they’re an institution! \nIn that time they have opened shows for B.B.
