DESCRIPTION:Durham Pride\, in partnership with the Durham Miners Association and the TUC\, will present a screening of ‘Pride’\, a decisive moment of solidarity that you can experience at Redhill’s\, the home of Durham Miners. \n \nThis fundraising event begins with a bar service\, followed by the film\, and ends with a special Q&A session. We are delighted to welcome representatives from former miners\, politicians\, and special guest Mike Jackson\, one of the founders of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners\, for the panel discussion. \nAll proceeds will go towards supporting future Pride and Gala events. DESCRIPTION:An evening of songs and award-winning archive film in the company of International Concert Stars Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid.\nA Century of Coalmining; Songs of the North East celebrates the county’s mining heritage with songs including Rap ‘er Ta Bank\, With Me Pit Claes On\, The Blaydon Races\, Keep Yer Feet Still Geordie Hinny and Deep Into the Ground from the musical Billy Elliot. \nThe show includes a screening of the remarkable film In The Veins (24mins) which chronicles the rise and fall of coalmining through rarely seen footage from the North East and Yorkshire Film and Television Archive. Other music in the show features traditional classics including Blow the Wind Southerly and The Keel Row as well as songs from the likes of Mark Knopfler (Sailing to Philadelphia) and Sting (The Last Ship). \nA unique opportunity to sit back and enjoy singers more usually seen on the great concert and opera stages of the world.
