SUMMARY:Andy Willoughby: Writing from History (4 week course)
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Redhills\, Durham Miners’ Hall\, for a creative writing course shaped by the stories\, voices and legacy of the coalfield communities. Led by Redhills Writer in Residence\, Andy Willoughby\, this course invites you to explore writing as a way of connecting with the past and giving it new life. \nDrawing on the spaces\, stories\, and visual materials of Redhills\, you will create original work inspired by personal memories\, family histories and the wider social history of the Durham coalfield. Through poetry\, short fiction and dramatic monologue\, you’ll be supported to find your own voice and perspective within these shared histories. The course will culminate in an opportunity to share your work as part of a special event at Redhills in May—bringing new stories into the heart of this historic building. \nAndy Willoughby is an internationally recognised poet\, community playwright and creative facilitator with over 30 years’ teaching experience. \nThis is a four week course taking place on the following dates with a MAXIMUM of 14 attendees: \n8th April \n15th April \n22nd April \n29th April \nAttendees should ideally be able to commit to attending every session.  \nEach session runs 6.30pm – 8.30pm at Redhills.  No previous experience is needed; suitable for ages 18 and up. \nRedhills bar will be open for refreshments and light snacks. \n  \nTicket Pricing \nAt Redhills\, we want everyone to feel welcome — whatever their financial situation. That’s why most of our events use a flexible pricing system. For these events\, you can choose from three ticket options: \n\nOpen Concession – If money’s tight\, choose this rate. No questions asked — we’re just glad you’re here.\nStandard – If you’re able\, we encourage you to choose this option. It helps support Redhills and the independent artists and companies we work with.\nSolidarity Price – If you can give a little more\, please consider this option. Each Solidarity ticket helps subsidise two Open Concession tickets\, opening the doors for more people to enjoy what Redhills has to offer.\n\nSimply pick the ticket that suits your budget and continue to checkout.
